[TAS] Ethan Han – Black Cow Bistro
Hailing from South Korea, Ethan spent nine years of service in the Korean Navy before venturing to Australia to study a Bachelor of Hospitality Management at ICMS in Sydney. It was during his period of study, where Ethan engaged in the hospitality sector, working across restaurants, cafés and hotels. Following his time in Sydney, Ethan worked as a waiter and bartender at Darwin’s Mindil Beach Casino before making the move down south.
As a military trained grade soju drinker, wine wasn’t Ethan’s choice of beverage. It was working with the team at Stillwater Restaurant, home of Tasmania’s most awarded wine list, and Black Cow Bistro, that he caught the wine bug. Since then, Ethan’s passion and enthusiasm for Tasmanian wine has only deepened.
Ethan is the co-owner and sommelier at one of Launceston’s finest hospitality institutions, Black Cow Bistro. In 2021 he achieved his CMS Certified Sommelier, followed by the WSET Diploma in 2025. Ethan is committed to supporting the wine and hospitality industry in northern Tasmania.
