Maha Restaurant, celebrated chef Shane Delia’s flagship modern Australian Middle Eastern restaurant in the CBD, is seeking passionate sommeliers.

We are a diversified restaurant group with an engaging and loyal community.  We offer multiple opportunities within our restaurant group, at our flagship Maha we have two private dining rooms, a 120 seat dining room, and an adjacent cocktail bar with an indulgent private dining space. Our group is also encompassed by two inner suburban wine bars, food retail brands at Melbourne airport, and ongoing collaborations with all of Melbourne’s major events and business community.

Maha offers an award winning wine list featuring over 700 local and international wines. Our service style is warm and welcoming and focusing on experiences that exceed our guests expectations.

This position would suit an enthusiastic and dedicated hospitality professional with a real intuition for service, sales, and training. The right candidate will be self-motivated, passionate and would thrive within a team environment, always achieving the highest of standards and helping others do the same.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A minimum two years’ experience in a similar role within a fast-paced venue, be guest focused and have a hands-on, solution based approach to service
  • Demonstrate a passion for wine and hold WSET / CMS qualifications
  • Knowledge of the Australian and international market
  • A willingness to further their knowledge base, including industry trends and new products
  • A friendly and outgoing, with a competitive and driven attitude
  • Be willing to go the extra mile to make our guests’ experiences memorable
  • A keen eye for detail and a strong work ethic, especially with stocktake and invoicing
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • The ability to take direction and also work autonomously
  • The flexibility to work weekends and public holidays
  • The ability to mentor other wine team members and build a strong beverage culture working alongside other member of our management team
