[TAS] Ben Devereux – Cru Wines / Molto Wine Bar
Ben was introduced to the world of fine wine early in his career whilst working across venues in Wales and London. Ben’s wine interests only blossomed following a move to Spain, where he visited and eventually worked in the regions of Priorat and Peñedes.
In 2009, Ben moved to Australia and returned to hospitality management in Queensland. Upon moving to Sydney, Ben engaged work in the wine wholesale sector, working for a small company before settling into a role with the Luxury Beverage Group and CRU wines. Unable to stay out of the wine service sector, Ben continued to work as a sommelier across Sydney venues, including the Tapavino group, and enjoyed a 3-year stint at Aria Sydney, alongside his wholesale job.
In 2019, Ben’s journey took him south, where he held the role of head sommelier at Hobart’s renowned Fico restaurant, where he ran the restaurant’s wine program. It was here that Ben entrenched himself as a key figurehead in Tasmania’s blossoming hospitality scene. Ben was offered the opportunity to take the reins of a new wine bar and fine wine cellar under the Lubiana group banner. Jumping at the chance, Ben’s focus was to curate a unique offering for Tasmanian wine lovers.
In his spare time Ben is still selling CRU wines to venues across the whole of Tasmania. He has recently taken over managing a small vineyard, and is passionate about promoting wine education for up and coming figures in the hospitality sector.
