Marcel first discovered the kaleidoscopic world of wine in the early 2000s, where he entered into hotel fine dining via the Royal Pines Resort, Gold Coast (now RACV). Marcel ventured into bar management when he joined the team at Oscars on Burleigh (now Burleigh Pavilion).

Wanting to explore another side of wine, Marcel entered into wine wholesale working with Deja Vu Wines and retail with Cru Bar & Cellar, gaining a holistic approach to wine sales. 

Marcel has led the team at Blackbird Bar & Grill Brisbane as head sommelier before joining the Ghanem Group in the role of group sommelier, overseeing venues including Donna Chang, BoomBoomRoom, Iris Rooftop & Bisou Bisou. Marcel is currently at home amongst the team at DAP&Co, where he directs the wine program across venues, Walter’s Steakhouse, Popolo Italian, The Gresham Bar, Naldham House Brasserie, Club Felix & The Fifty Six. 

Each year Marcel judges at the nationally esteemed Royal Queensland Wine Awards held in Brisbane. Marcel is truly grateful that his career is his passion, not just for wine, but the essence of hospitality.
