DESCRIPTION:“It is not the strongest species that survive\, nor the most intelligent\, \nbut the most responsive to change.” \nCharles Darwin\, Naturalist \n  \nThe Australian wine landscape has been through many changes over recent years. Not only are local producers exploring and working in the most celebrated international wine regions\, but climate change is undeniably being experienced on a global scale\, modifying the characteristics of many wine regions. \nTwo local producers\, Kim Chalmers (Chalmers wines) and Nick Spencer (Nick Spencer Wines)\, with extensive knowledge of non-traditional or ’emerging’ varieties in an Australian climate will lead us through an diverse line-up of wines made using these exciting ’emerging’ varieties. During the masterclass our panellists will also share their observations on Australia’s altering terroir and how they have found these varieties better suited to the changing local environmental conditions. \nThis masterclass aims to showcase the potential of Italian\, Greek\, Spanish\, Portuguese and other traditionally European varieties in the Australian environment\, rather than compare local examples to their European counterparts.
